The XGW-12 eliminates the need for costly and time-consuming civil engineering. Unlike conventional substations that require months of site construction, this outdoor intelligent switching station arrives fully assembled in a weatherproof stainless steel box. It is simply placed on a prepared flat area, cables are connected, and the unit is operational within days. The compact 5970×2050×1070mm footprint fits easily into tight urban spaces where land acquisition is expensive.
All primary switching equipment (12kV circuit breakers, load switches, current/voltage transformers) is housed together with secondary automation devices (FTU, RTU, CCU, protection relays, meters) inside one IP4X enclosure. This integration eliminates separate control rooms and long control cable runs, reducing both material costs and potential failure points.
Safety features include IP4X enclosure protection, interlocked switch mechanisms that prevent erroneous operations, and a grounding switch with rated short-time withstand current for safe earthing. The spring operating mechanism ensures clear position indication. All cabinets have a main circuit resistance below 140μΩ, minimizing heat generation.
The enclosure is fabricated from stainless steel or aluminum-zinc coated steel, both offering excellent corrosion resistance. Operating temperature range is -25°C to +40°C. The XGW-12 has a mechanical life of ≥2000 operations for switching devices. With annual SF6 leakage ≤1%, the gas insulation remains effective for over 20 years.
